Welcome to the Interdisciplinary Network of Students in Music

Whether in performance, composition, research, or education, music students undertake one of the most intensive programs in academia. The years of training, thousands of hours in practice rooms, and the academic course load, all under the immense pressure of entering such a competitive field, endow these students with the work ethic and skills to excel in any industry. Our mission is to inspire, connect, and support music students around the world pursuing interdisciplinary career paths and studies.

President

Chenuka Lakwijaya

Chenuka studies Voice Performance at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University yet also seeks to expand his study to the fields of political science, philosophy, and indigenous studies. Having lived in Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, and Dubai, he applies a contrasting cultural perspective to his study of classical music and his numerous other interests in writing and student leadership. He strongly believes in the value of grounding his musical work firmly
in the societal needs of his community and the urgency for students to be proactive in their musical education to experiment with and embrace the inherently multidisciplinary nature of music.
